FAMILY LAW
The lawyers at Baxter Engen are knowledgeable in both the legal areas of family law and the human side of the issues. They provide counsel, advice and representation on divorce, child custody, child support, visitation, adoption and other areas of family disputes.

They are experienced attorneys, and compassion and the ability to deal with complicated legal issues and with diverse types of people are their strengths. They will give you an advantage in resolving your dispute. Your interests and concerns will be protected, defended and kept in the forefront with an aggressive advocacy.

DWI AND MISDEMEANOR DEFENSE

Unfortunately, the criminal justice system is not "user friendly". Your rights are protected best when you hire an attorney and the results you get depend on assertion of those rights. If you are being investigated, or if you have been charged with a crime, you need to speak with an attorney.

For alcohol related offenses, a delay of even days can be expensive and deprive you of certain rights. If you will need a lawyer at any point, speak to a lawyer early on in the process. Often, the cost of a defense is the same, or even less, if you act early on to engage a lawyer to help you.

Fair play and protecting your rights are the firm's goals in a criminal prosecution. Alcohol related driving offenses are serious and potentially devastating events, both financially and emotionally. Your attorney should be knowledgeable, committed and affordable. Call before your valuable rights are gone.

INSURANCE MATTERS
Insurance issues, including coverage, defense and subrogation, are often complex. The dilemma is how to retain an experienced, knowledgeable and aggressive attorney at an hourly rate or fee that is fair and reasonable. The solution is to look for an attorney with experience and training from a large law firm, who can offer rates competitive with small firms. Baxter Engen offers that combination to insurers with attorney needs in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin or throughout the United States.

Both Mike Baxter and David Engen spent many years at a large well respected national law firm handling a variety of insurance cases. Their experience includes many large and small fire cases, both as subrogation cases and as defense cases. They have done witness training for several fire investigation associations both on a local and national basis. In addition to their expertise in the area of fire litigation, the partners have extensive experience in many coverage issues, including arson. (Please see invidual bios). They have done extensive work in the area of product liability/personal injury defense, including defense of cases involving snowmobiles, ATVs, and personal watercraft. This experience and legal training qualifies them to represent your insurance company in many types of disputes.
