David A. Engen is a partner at Baxter Engen. His practice includes a broad range of civil litigation with a focus on insurance litigation, construction litigation, and business litigation for large or small companies and individuals. Mr. Engen has substantial experience in fire and explosion litigation, building construction and collapse, and boiler and machinery issues on behalf of insurance companies. Mr. Engen has handled fires and explosions, electrical failures, sprinkler failures, arson defense, reporting form endorsements, definition of physical loss or damage, "other insurance" clauses, exclusions in insurance policies, product liability defense for major companies and dealer/distributor termination issues for manufacturers. Policies include first party policies, boiler and machinery policies, and liability policies. Representative results include:
David A. Engen is admitted to practice in the State Courts in Minnesota, North Dakota and Texas, Federal District Courts in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Texas, the Courts of Appeals for the Eighth and Ninth Circuits and the Court of Military Appeals. Mr. Engen received a B.S. degree at North Dakota State University, and a Juris Doctor, With Distinction, from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1974. He has taught Trial Advocacy and Products Liability at the University of North Dakota School of Law, and Business Law at the University of North Dakota in the School of Business. He served as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Air Force and is a Major in the inactive reserve. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Hennepin County Bar Association. |
